Lips is the vulva balm we make in Montréal. As of this writing it has 24 reviews on its product page, with an average of 4.58 out of 5, and more than 1,000 jars have been sold. This page gathers what verified buyers wrote, word for word, grouped by what they talk about. If you're new to the category, our guide to what a vulva balm is is a good place to start.
We've also put the less flattering part near the top, because it matters to your decision. Some buyers found Lips didn't help, and one reacted to it. That's below, in our own words, before the quotes.

The rating, plainly
Lips has 24 reviews and an average of 4.58 out of 5 on its product page. With a count that size, an average that high means more than half of the reviewers gave it five stars, and some gave it less. The count is small, so we'd read it as a sign of how buyers feel rather than a promise about your skin.
You may see a higher rating elsewhere on our store. That number covers every product we sell. The Lips number is the one on the Lips page, and it's the one we use here.
All the quotes on this page come from verified buyers, copied exactly as they were written, typos included, with the reviewer's initial and the month where we have it. We chose them to show what buyers talk about. We don't quote reviews that describe a reaction or a refund, and we describe those cases ourselves in the next section instead.
Who it didn't suit
A few buyers told us Lips didn't ease the discomfort they were dealing with, and they used the 30-day satisfaction guarantee. One buyer's skin reacted after about a week of using it every night.
Neither of those surprises us. A balm is a moisturizer, so it helps skin that's dry or rubbed by clothing, and it can't reach a problem caused by an infection, a skin condition or a change in hormones. And a slow allergy to an ingredient can take days of use to show up, which is why we ask everyone to patch test first. If a balm isn't helping, this checklist goes through the usual reasons.
Some people should skip Lips, or check with a doctor first:
- anyone with a nut allergy, because sweet almond oil is the first ingredient
- anyone who has reacted to calendula or to ho wood, geranium, peppermint, palmarosa or blue tansy essential oil
- anyone with broken or cracked skin in the area, which the page says to avoid
- anyone with intense itch, skin turning white or shiny, new discharge or a change in smell, which are reasons to see a doctor before using any product
When buyers use it
The page says Lips can be used before bed, after the shower, before or after physical activity, or any time, and buyers' habits spread across all of those.
One buyer wrote about bedtime: "A little bit of this before bed and I'm comfortable again." (D., verified buyer, August 2026)
Others keep it for the days they need it. "I do not use it as an everyday product, but when I need it" (M.N., verified buyer, January 2025).
One French-speaking buyer described using it at the moments her skin gets stressed: « que j'utilise quand je suis irritée ou en prévention quand je vais marcher ou porter des vêtements serrés. » (S., verified buyer, April 2025). In English: that she uses it when she feels irritated, or ahead of time when she's going for a walk or wearing tight clothes. Our article on vulva chafing from exercise and tight clothes covers that moment in more detail.
Texture and scent
The base of Lips is sweet almond oil, jojoba oil, candelilla wax (a plant wax), cocoa butter, calendula macerate, castor oil and vitamin E. Candelilla wax forms a light, breathable layer that holds moisture in, and the balm melts as you massage it in. Buyers notice the feel.
"it does not stick to your underwear, from personal experience of course." (M.B., verified buyer, January 2025)
"Very smooth and smells great!" (A., verified buyer)
"Great formula and soft comfort" (C., verified buyer, September 2026)
On scent, it helps to know what's behind it. Lips has no fragrance. What you smell comes from five essential oils (ho wood, geranium bourbon, peppermint, palmarosa and blue tansy), which together make up about 1% of the formula. If you feel a short-lived coolness on the first touch, that's the peppermint.
Comfort
Several buyers write about comfort. These are their words, about their own skin, and your experience may differ.
"it makes me feel more comfortable down there." (M.N., verified buyer, January 2025)
"Wish I'd found it sooner." and "Now I put this on and it's gone in minutes." (J., verified buyer, August 2026)
« Très efficace et très doux » (S., verified buyer, April 2026). In English: very effective and very gentle.
What Lips is made to do is moisturize and soften dry skin and help it feel comfortable. It isn't a treatment for any condition, and if discomfort keeps coming back, that's worth raising with a doctor.
The worry before buying
The most common worry we hear before someone orders is whether Lips will suit skin that reacts easily. One buyer wrote about exactly that: "When I bought the product, I was not sure it could really be for me since I have a very sentisive (and reactive!) vulva area. The fact that it was all natural ingredients reassured me" (M.N., verified buyer, January 2025).
D. summed up her own experience in the title of her review: "Finally something gentle" (D., verified buyer, August 2026).
We're glad it suited them. Plant ingredients can still bother some people, so we'd never promise it will suit you. The honest way to find out is a patch test: DermNet, the dermatology reference, describes applying a product twice a day to a small area of forearm skin for 5 to 10 days, and says no redness or swelling at the end means an allergy to it is unlikely. Our article on vulva balm for sensitive skin walks through it step by step.
Made in Canada, and reviews in French
Lips is made in Montréal and formulated by women, and some buyers mention that as part of why they chose it.
"It works really well and it's made in Canada !" (p.K., verified buyer, October 2026)
Some of our reviews are in French. We've kept them in French and added a plain English version after each.
« J'adore l'idée de prendre soin de cette zone du corps qui est habituellement la grande oubliée. » (A., verified buyer, November 2025). In English: she loves the idea of taking care of this part of the body, which usually gets forgotten.
« Je croyais que ce serait un produit de luxe, comme un beau rouge à lèvres pour les journées de sortie spéciale. » and « Mais j'ai découvert que c'est un essentiel » (S.d.M., verified buyer, April 2025). In English: she thought it would be a luxury, like a nice lipstick saved for special nights out, and then found it's an essential.
| What buyers mention | What's behind it, from the product page |
|---|---|

| It's gentle on reactive skin | A short, named ingredient list; the page asks for a patch test first |
| It's made in Canada | Made in Montréal, formulated by women |
| Using it when needed, or every night | As often as needed: before bed, after the shower, before or after activity |
| It didn't suit everyone | A 30-day satisfaction guarantee |
What reviews can't tell you
Reviews tell you how a product felt on other people's skin. They can't tell you how yours will react.
The NHS says a skin reaction to a product usually occurs within a few hours or days of exposure, and that the best way to avoid one is to avoid the thing that causes it. That's why the forearm test comes first, even after a page of good reviews.
Reviews also can't tell you whether a balm is the right tool. Vulval skin clinics usually begin by taking things away. The dermatology team at St George's Hospital in London lists fragranced panty liners, soaps and cleansers, wet wipes and deodorants among the irritants to avoid on the vulva, and suggests cotton underwear and washing no more than once a day. If those are still in your routine, changing them is the free first step.
If you'd like to try Lips after reading all this, it's $36 CAD ($27 USD) for a 1 oz jar, it ships free on its own in Canada and the US, and the guarantee is on the product page, in these words: "30-day satisfaction guarantee. if lips doesn't work for you, reach out within 30 days of your first order and we'll make it right."

Are the Lips reviews real?
They're from verified buyers on our store, and we quote them exactly as written, typos included. The rating shown here, 4.58 on 24 reviews, is the Lips number, not the store-wide rating. Reviews that only describe a reaction or a refund aren't quoted, but we describe those cases on this page.
