A dual stimulation toy does two jobs at once: one part goes inside the vagina, and another part rests on the outside, over the clitoris. We have two of them, Peak and Glow, and the question we get most is which one to pick.
They're built for different people, so this article puts them side by side and says plainly who each one suits. It also covers when a dual toy isn't the right choice at all. If you haven't owned a toy before, our plain guide to a first vibrator is a good place to start.

What a dual stimulation toy does
The clitoris is bigger than the part you can see. Cleveland Clinic explains that the glans sits on the outside, while the internal part wraps around your vagina, so vaginal penetration can stimulate the clitoris through the vaginal wall. A dual toy is designed around that: one part reaches the inside, and the other part touches the outside at the same time.
The reason so many people want both comes from how orgasm works for most women. Fewer than one in five women in a large US survey, aged 18 to 94, said intercourse alone was enough for orgasm (18.4%), and most of the rest said clitoral stimulation was either needed during intercourse or made it better. A dual toy brings the two together in one hand.
That doesn't make it the best toy for everyone. The same study found that women described very different preferences for where and how they like to be touched, which is why the last part of this article covers who may be happier with a simpler toy.
Peak and Glow side by side
Both are made of medical-grade silicone, both are waterproof, and both let you run each kind of stimulation alone or together. The differences are in size and in the kinds of stimulation. Glow also comes with a carrying and charging case.

Peak: more length and more ways to use it
Peak is the larger of the two, 8.5 inches long and 1.2 inches across, and it bends so you can adjust the angle. It has three kinds of stimulation, and you can use any of them alone or together: 10 vibration modes, a 3-speed internal thumping motion, and a 3-speed air pulse on the outside. Two motors drive them.
That range is the main reason to choose it. You can start with only the air pulse on the outside, add the internal motion later, and find out which combination you like without buying a second toy. It charges in about 90 minutes and runs about an hour with both motors at the highest speed. Peak is $159 CAD ($119 USD).
Peak is our most reviewed toy, and two reviews speak to the two biggest doubts. One buyer wrote: "I was nervous to try this toy because I am not usually a fan of dual stim vibrators, but this toy has changed the game for me." (C.R., verified buyer, September 2023). Another, a year in: "I have been using it for a year and still love it as much as the first time" (verified buyer, June 2026).
One honest note from our buyers. One told us Peak can feel intense for sensitive users, and another found it a little loud. Both are worth knowing if you're sensitive to strong sensation or share walls with someone, and starting on the lowest settings helps with both.
Full details are on the Peak page.
Glow: compact, with two motors
Glow is the compact one, 3.9 by 3.15 by 1.3 inches. It has two independent motors: an internal vibration with 10 speeds and an external air pulse with 10 speeds. You can run either one alone or both together, and set each speed separately.
It comes with a round carrying and charging case, 3.5 inches across, so it has its own place to live in a drawer or a bag. It charges in about 2 hours and runs about an hour with both motors at the highest speed. The product page also mentions the latest sound-suppression technology, and one reviewer described it as "almost silent" (S.D.). Glow is $139 CAD ($99 USD).
One review is about comfort: "fits comfortably, even if you're usually not into penetration." (verified buyer, February 2026). Another buyer liked how easily it travels: « Super compact il se traine bien partout avec sa petite boite pratique. » (verified buyer, July 2025), meaning it's very compact and goes anywhere in its handy little box. See the Glow page for the rest.
Which one suits you
Neither toy is better than the other. They answer different wishes, and the buyer's own situation decides it.
Peak may suit you if you already know you enjoy penetration and want room to explore. Its length, its bend and its three kinds of stimulation give you the most ways to adjust. It's also the one to pick if you want an internal motion other than vibration.
Glow may suit you if you're newer to penetration or prefer something smaller inside. One reviewer said it fits comfortably even for someone who isn't usually into penetration. Noise and travel are good reasons to choose it too, given its case and the sound-suppression technology on the page.
Either one gives you the outside and the inside at once, with each motor adjustable, and both are waterproof for easy washing.
When a single toy is the better choice
A dual toy is a bigger step than a toy for the outside only, and it isn't the right step for everyone.
If penetration is uncomfortable or painful, a dual toy can make that harder to ignore. Pain during sex is very common: ACOG, the US organization of obstetrician-gynecologists, says nearly 3 out of 4 women have pain during intercourse at some time in their lives. ACOG suggests trying sexual activities that don't cause pain, and seeing an ob-gyn if the pain is frequent or severe. A toy for the outside only is a gentler choice in the meantime.
If you mostly enjoy outside stimulation, you're paying for a part you may not use. Our smaller toys, the Cakepop mini wand and the Aura air pulse toy, cost less and focus on the outside. Our article on whether small toys are strong enough compares them.
If it's your first toy and you're not sure what you like, starting simple tells you more for less. You can always add a dual toy later.
If you're pregnant, recovering from childbirth or surgery, or have a pelvic condition, ask your doctor before using any internal toy.
Using a dual toy for the first time
A few habits make the first time easier.
- Try each motor on its own first. Start with the outside part at its lowest speed, then try the inside part alone, before you combine them.
- Use plenty of water-based lube. Water-based is the type to pair with silicone, which silicone lube can wear down over time, and the aloe version of our Honey suits every toy material.
- Go slowly with the inside part. Insert only as far as feels comfortable, and stop if anything hurts.
- Wash it before the first use and after each one. Our guide to cleaning toys covers the steps. Let it dry completely before you put it away.
Pain, bleeding or irritation that lasts more than a day or two is a reason to stop and see a doctor.

Frequently asked questions
What is a dual stimulation vibrator?
It's a toy with two parts that work at the same time: one goes inside the vagina, and the other rests on the outside over the clitoris. Each part has its own motor and settings, so you can use them separately or together.
Is a dual stimulation vibrator good for beginners?
It can be, especially a compact one, but it's a bigger step than a toy for the outside only. If you already enjoy penetration, a dual toy lets you explore both at once. If you're not sure what you like, or penetration is uncomfortable, a small external toy is the simpler first choice.
What is the difference between Peak and Glow?
Peak is longer (8.5 inches) and bendable, with three kinds of stimulation: vibration, internal thumping and air pulse. Glow is compact (3.9 by 3.15 by 1.3 inches), with internal vibration and external air pulse, 10 speeds each, and a carrying and charging case. Peak is $159 CAD and Glow is $139 CAD.
Can you use only one part of a dual stimulation toy?
Yes. Both Peak and Glow let you run each kind of stimulation alone or together. You can start with the outside part only, then add the inside part once you're comfortable. Being able to separate them also means the toy stays useful on days you only want one.
What lube should I use with a dual stimulation vibrator?
A water-based one, and more of it than you'd expect for the inside part. It rinses off easily and is the safe pick for silicone, which silicone lube can wear down over time. Add more whenever it starts to feel dry or tugs.
How do I clean a dual stimulation toy?
Wash it before its first use and after each one, with a toy cleaner or mild soap and warm water, working into every curve and crease where lube collects. Peak and Glow are both waterproof, so they can go under the tap to rinse. Let it dry fully before you store it.
